Electronic Travel Authorization electronic visa for
travel to Sri Lanka
As of January 1st, 2012, the government of Sri Lanka
has introduced a new electronic visa requirement, called an ETA.
What is the Sri Lanka ETA?
An ETA is a visa for travel to Sri Lanka
for a stay of up to 30 days. The Sri Lanka ETA is issued
on-line; it is not necessary to submit an original passport
or other documents for processing. Simply complete and
submit Travisa's online request form and the Sri Lanka ETA
can be processed within 48 hours. Sri Lanka ETA requests are
processed Monday to Friday during business hours.
What kind of ETA do I need to travel
to Sri Lanka?
If you wish to visit Sri Lanka for
a short stay for any of the following purposes, you
must obtain ETA prior to arrival. An ETA is valid
for travel to Sri Lanka for the following purposes:
TRANSIT ETA
BUSINESS ETA
TRANSIT ETA
How long can I stay in Sri
Lanka with an ETA visa?
The ETA will allow a
stay of 30 days from the date of entry
to Sri Lanka, but it may be extended for
up to six months by submitting an ETA
application at the Head office of the
Department of Immigration and Emigration
(DI&E) in Sri Lanka.
What do I need to do
after I apply for the ETA?
Once the ETA is approved, though it is not required we
recommend that you keep a copy of the Sri Lanka ETA approval notification to
carry with your passport. Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, ETA holders should
produce the following requirements at the port of entry:
