General Information Regarding Schengen Visas

This page is intended as general information about the Schengen visas and how to apply for one.

What countries are members of the Schengen agreement?

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain,  Sweden and Switzerland  are all members of the Schengen agreement.

How do I apply for my Schengen visa?

There are specific rules as to which country will issue your visa.·
  • If you will visit only one Schengen country, you must apply through the embassy or consulate of that country. ·

  • If you will visit several Schengen countries, you must apply for a visa through the embassy or consulate of the country which is your main destination·

  • If you will visit several countries but do not have a main destination, you must apply for a visa through the embassy or consulate of the country which is your first point of entry.

Other information:
  • If you do not need a visa for the Schengen country which is your main destination or first point of entry, please note that you may require a visa for other Schengen countries you visit. Apply to the embassy or consulate of the first country which does require a visa.

  • Each country has its own visa application form and requirements, which can vary greatly. Therefore, it is necessary to research requests on an individual basis to address  the traveler’s specific documentation requirements.

Does this sound complicated? It is. Let Travisa make the process easier for you.

Please take a moment and complete the following research request form, and fax it back to Travisa or send it online. A Travisa consultant will research your request, and reply by fax or e-mail with instructions and application forms.

Requirements as to how many forms and photos are needed, as well as supplementary documentation that may be required will vary by national and by country for which you are applying. Also, we may not be able to provide visa service for every nationality for every country, due to jurisdictional other regulations; however, one of other offices may be able to assist you, and we will advise you where possible.

We charge a service fee of $10.00 per country for the research request, which may be applied to any visa service we perform for you.
